Last year Microsoft has launched Microsoft Entra. What exactly is Microsoft Entra? MS Entra is a new product family that now includes all Identity and Access Management (IAM) products and services.
The new brand suite is part of the rebranding of a number of large MS suites in a relatively short period of time. At an earlier stage Microsoft has presented the ever-growing Defender suite, the Priva privacy management suite and the Microsoft Purview compliance and governance label. Microsoft Entra has now also been added to this collection.

Microsoft Entra is designed to provide identity and access management, cloud infrastructure management and identity verification all in one. The product group consists of three main pillars:
- Azure Active Directory for managing login environments
- Permissions Management (formerly Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management or CIEM) for managing permissions in Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform
- Azure AD External Identities for managing B2B and B2C connections.
Microsoft Entra works on-premises, as well as in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, and within Microsoft and third-party apps, websites and devices.
