New built in screen recording tool Windows 11

Mac users have had a screen recording function built in for years. Microsoft has been catching up and introduces a new built in screen recording tool for Windows 11. Microsoft is finally adding a built-in screen recording tool to Windows 11. Previously users usually had to rely on third-party screen recording tools, but Microsoft wants to fix that.

Microsoft unveiled the addition in an update to Windows 11 coming soon, however the tool is currently only available to those who have signed up for the beta program. With this feature, users can not only record their entire screen but also choose to record a specific section. Similar to Mac OS options with Quicktime.

While some users have used the Xbox Game Bar to record the screen, that solution was only able to record individual apps. The Snipping Tool has always been a favourite for Windows Insider users (the beta testing program), so Microsoft wanted to bring built-in screen recording to the community.

Microsoft has only just started testing this with Windows 11 testers in the Dev Channel, so it will probably be several weeks or months before this screen recording tool is released to everyone using Windows 11. Still, it’s great news that Windows will finally have a built-in screen recorder.
