A public review of Microsoft Azure DDoS IP Protection for SMbs has been launched. The service must protect SMBs against DDoS attacks. According to Microsoft, DDoS attacks are an increasing threat, which SMBs are increasingly affected by. Research shows that in the third quarter, the number of DDoS attacks, especially those against SMBs, increased a by a staggering 111 percent year-over-year at the application layer. The number of Level 3 and 4 DDoS attacks increased by 97 percent.
What is Azure DDoS Protection?
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are one of the biggest availability and security concerns for customers moving their applications to the cloud. A DDoS attack attempts to exhaust an application’s resources, making the application unavailable to legitimate users. DDoS attacks can be targeted at any endpoint that is publicly accessible over the Internet.
Azure DDoS Protection, combined with application design best practices, provides enhanced DDoS mitigation features to protect against DDoS attacks. It is automatically tuned to protect your specific Azure resources in a virtual network. Security is easy to set up on a new or existing virtual network and requires no application or resource changes.
MS Azure Protection Layer 3 and 4 DDoS attacks
The new service should help protect SMBs against Layer 3 and 4 DDoS attacks on public IP addresses from firewalls, application gateways and load balancers, among other things. This should protect all users using Public IPs in the Azure public cloud against DDoS attacks
Features of the service include traffic monitoring, automatic attack handling, flow logs, the Azure Sentinel data connector and workbooks. The solution also integrates with other Azure services for real-time alerts, metrics and security insights.
Expansion portfolio MS Azure
The service expands Microsoft’s portfolio of Azure services that protect customers against DDoS attacks. The introduction of DDoS IP Protection comes in addition to the already existing solution DDoS Network Protection for large companies. The latter solution does offer possibilities for cost reduction, the discount for a web firewall and response support.
